Real suite or single bedroom, the parental bedroom is the parents' decompression chamber, the second wind for couples and the zen bubble for adults. Inevitably, we dream of an optimized layout that promotes both moments for two, peaceful nights and invigorating mornings! The solution ? Follow a few simple rules to properly arrange your master bedroom.

1. We define space

The bedroom space is divided around three essential functions: sleep, storage and possibly hygiene. The real question to ask yourself? Know if we are planning a parental bedroom or a parental suite ! A good definition of the space makes it possible to determine the size of the furniture, the type of furniture required and the space remaining once the essentials are placed. The master bedroom is a bedroom, in which it is therefore necessary to provide cupboards or a wardrobe, or even a dressing table or a makeup corner if the family bathroom does not allow it. The parental suite includes an adjoining or open bathroom reserved for parents, or even a real dressing room. And in both cases, traffic must be fluid and logical from one zone to another.

2. We define the night zone

Are the different spaces divided? Place in bed! In a living room, the sofa is king, in a master bedroom, it is the bed. Its size must be adapted to that of the room to allow good circulation around, as well as the needs of its occupants to sleep comfortably. We don't ignore the bedhead, real or simulated with paint or wallpaper: it materializes the sleeping space and completes the decor. It can even be used to delimit spaces, by separating the sleeping area from a bathroom or dressing room, or integrate bedside tables to save space.

2. We think of storage

A nice room, we say yes, provided that it remains practical. A good layout supposes to have enough storage for books, bed linen, clothes ... Ideally, we prefer integrated solutions such as cupboards, rather than a massive wardrobe, except for style and large volumes. In the absence of a parental suite with a real dressing room, we go to plan B by fitting it in the bedroom: a few shelves and a curtain can be enough to create a dressing room in a recess. Many tailor-made solutions also exist among manufacturers, capable of adapting to the smallest spaces. And we do not forget the storage hidden under the bed or behind the headboard, among others!

3. We make the master bedroom a real bedroom

We told you, the primary function of the bedroom is sleep. We therefore avoid as much as possible adding additional functions to a master bedroom, such as an office area, an ironing area or worse, a play area for children! Can not do otherwise, the bedroom is the only place in which the office area is possible? In this case, we delimit the functions by isolating the desk with a screen, a movable partition, in a cupboard or with a painting effect ... but whatever happens, we don't sacrifice sleeping space for the desk.

4. We take care of the lighting

In the evening, we want a soft, cozy, warm, even romantic light ... and in the morning, something to get up on the right foot, or at least wake up tonically and get dressed without tripping. Clear ? In the evening, the master bedroom must offer a fireside atmosphere; in the morning, imitate daylight! If everything depends on the room to be fitted out, the solution is generally divided into two parts: on one side, a luminous ceiling lamp, and on the other, auxiliary lamps scattered throughout the room, starting with the bedside lamps. The extra tip? We opt for connected bulbs or dimmable lights, which allow you to easily modulate the color and intensity of the light.

5. We purify space

In the master bedroom, the key word is serenity. No question of overloading! We favor closed storage to hide disorder, we harmonize colors and patterns, we choose low furniture to clear the view, we limit the number of trinkets and frames on the walls ... As for those who want color , avoid stimulating reds to favor soothing blues.
